"The room was as described so it met my expectations. The hotels location was where I it should have been, so again it met my expectations. The service was dissapointing for such a famous 5 star hotel, the trip was a suprise for my girlfriends birthday the receptionist having disscovered this in conversation with myself asked if it would be acceptable that some compimentry flowers and a cake were put in our room, I thought this was a nice touch however, no cake no flowers arrived. We dined in the restaurant on the 2nd night, I had to ask three different staff before we got any pre dinner drinks. The food was good and the service friendly. I booked a show and dinner through the hotel for the 3rd night, the day of the birthday. We turned up to find we had to stand in line for over an hour during which time it rained heavily -I wouldn't have minded so much if the hotel had made it clear we would have to wait for so long, but that wasn't mentioned -it did take the edge off the evening and isn't something I would have expected."

"The location is great. Hotel George V is in the 8th arrondisement, which is my favorite. The service is exceptional. I arrived in a taxi and the doorman welcomed me by my name. I don't know how he knew it was me, but I was immediately impressed. Check in was a breeze. My room was not as large as I had expected, but I have no complaints. It was beautiful and elegant. The bathroom had a big terrycloth robe and slippers, and plenty of Bulgari toiletries. Lots of thick towels, too. There was also a very nice umbrella in my closet. It came in very handy since it rained both days of my stay there. They also shined my shoes the first night, complementary. I ate only breakfast there. It was crepes, ham, juice and coffee. It was good. Again, service was exceptional. I would highly recommend George V. There is a spa there, but I didn't use it. The concierge arranged for me to take a city tour. I don't know about a lot of the activities at the hotel itself, though. I would say on a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being excellent, "John Payne, Bath, Somerset, United Kingdom. January, 2007
